Kareel Meer Caniezo Hongitan, the best performer of the four-man Philippine team in the recent World Cup Olympic Qualifier, eagerly awaits the decision of the World Archery (13466089_10154071619652529_1319833443914160482_nIF) on the final list to complete the 128-archer field in Rio.

Hongitan told Sports Radio that World Archery informally notified the Philippines after the Qualifying tournament that she is one strong candidate for the Rio Games either via tripartite or in case of last minute withdrawal or disqualification by a qualifier.

The 19-year old University of Baguio student ruled the secondary Qualification or loser’s bracket of last week’s Qualifier in Turkey, where she beat rivals from Thailand, Denmark and Vietnam.

The Filipina archer and 7 other losers in the 4th round of the Olympic Qualifiers competed against each other to determine the top 3, which were put on standby after 3 countries sent 2 archers each in the Quarterfinals. However final results saw one qualifier per country—thus nullifying the results of the secondary Qualification.

Hongitan hopes that she would be given one of the three tripartite slots which shall be announced on July 1.

She resumes her rigid training and at the same time attends to unfinished school tasks which she missed the past months.
